YACD’s Partnership with Bridge-to-Africa Connection
The core purpose of this program is to better equip existing BTAC’s program participants with soft skills that can be used within any workplace. Through YACD’s career development curriculum, students are trained through several workplace role examples & needed skills that highlight specialized trainings in the areas such as resolving conflicts, effective communication skills, workplace ethics, goal setting & various other layers of workplace professional development. YACD is also ensuring that BTAC’s students are adequately prepared to select a required major during their transition into Ghana’s high school system.
Unlike many other countries around the world, Ghana’s Ministry of Education requires that all incoming high school students select a major before their entrance into senior high school. For this reason, our program further supports youth with needed clarity & navigation through this system. Every YACD student is provided a career assessment test which further reinforces their selected high school major & future career path option possibilities. Our program also prepares youth to utilize life skills for their future success. These life skills support our participants irrespective of their individual completions of their work at the secondary and/or college education levels. The Youth of Africa Career Development is extremely proud to be in such a meaningful partnership with Bridge to Africa Connection, Inc.
Jennifer
Jennifer serves as an in-person classroom training assistant. She is a huge asset in supporting all live virtual trainings that are lead by YACD Executive Director Willie Wynn. Jennifer is a core leadership team member to the Bridge to Africa Connection, Inc. (BTAC). Jennifer is a 3rd year College of Education Studies major at the University of Cape Coast in Ghana. Jennifer’s near future career focus after graduation is to teach primary school students. She also has future aspirations of building a private school in Ghana that will provide high standards of educational training for the youth in her country
Vera
Vera aspires to be an attorney & her picture explains the energy that she will need in her future court room the best! She is full of energy and has a passion for both researching and asking questions. Vera is a top participator in the classroom & has a very bright future in the legal profession.
Mercy
Mercy desires to be a nurse and her heart to serve others has easily shown in this program. She serves her peers by assisting with the preparation of meals at the end of each program session. She has a consistent track record of going above & beyond of what has been asked of her. Mercy enjoys singing and dancing in her spare time.
Hanna
Hanna desires to be a nurse. Her #1 motivation of pursuing a career is linked to her desire in wanting to provide medical care to the needy whom lack financial resources. Many countries don’t have laws in place to service those that can’t afford emergency room attention. Hearts like Hanna’s to support the poor with professional medical care are highly needed.
Sadat
Sadat desires to be a gastrointestinal medical specialist & a possible President of Ghana one day. He has a passion for studying how the human body digests food. Sadat also has an extraordinary sense of humor & is a very quick learner. As a result of this, he has large room for improvement in his focus on study skills particularly as his classwork becomes more challenging in senior high school. Academically, Sadat is a standout student with the highest grades in his class amongst his peers at school.
Blessing
Blessing desires to be a fashion design professional one day. Her home in the city of Kumasi happens to be the birthplace of Kente cloth. This handwoven cloth that is made of silk and cotton holds an exceptional amount of popularity throughout the world. Living in a city like Kumasi, Blessing has great opportunity to be trained & succeed in this field of study.
Dickson
Dickson has high ambitions on being a mechanical engineer. He is a standout student with a noticeably sharp attention span & excellent behavior in the classroom. He holds a very unique fascination in using machines to build items that are needed. The University of Kumasi where he lives has a well respected School of Engineering for his future training.
Belinda
Belinda desires one day to be a news journalist reporter. She understands the importance of getting news out to the public for their overall awareness of important events and information. Belinda is a very confident & well-spoken in the classroom.
