ABOUT THE BOARD
The YACD organization’s board of directors consists of a culturally diverse background of professionals from various walks of life. The fundamental role of this group is to ensure that the overall mission & integrity of YACD’s vision is adequately upheld & sustainably advanced to better serve Africa’s youth in the arena of career development. Almost half of YACD’s eleven board members were either native born in Africa or are children of African immigrants. This is relevant to the organization’s cultural identity and professional commitment of understanding and functionally relating within the environments that YACD’s program youth are being served in.
Africa is the second largest continent in the world in both its size and current population of over 1.6 billion people. It also holds one of the most diverse environments on the globe with regard to its many languages and distinctive cultures.
For this reason, YACD enormously benefits from having a culturally diverse and larger than normal sized board team. This allows its very unique organizational goals to be more effectively accomplished in such delicate environments. All of the board members were carefully selected as a result of their individual educational achievements, diverse cultural backgrounds, and service within their communities. All board members are committed in advancing career development for youth throughout the continent of Africa.
Willie Wynn, Jr.
Youth of Africa Career Development Founder & CEO
Willie is the Founder & Executive Director of YACD. He holds 17 years of experience in sales & distribution management in Corporate America. He currently works as a Corporate Sales Executive with the Chamberlain Group, the largest wholesale distributor of perimeter access control equipment in the United States.
Kimberly Wynn
Youth of Africa Career Development Co-Founder
Kimberly is the Co-Founder of YACD. She currently works at one of the largest healthcare recruiting firms in the nation as a Physician Recruiter at AMN Healthcare.
Jennifer Godoy-Lee
Azusa Pacific University Program Director
Jennifer is the TRiO Program Director at Azusa Pacific University. TRiO is a program that is federally funded thru the US Dept. of Education that provides support to students completing their post-secondary degrees.
Mark Boakye
Physical Fitness Chief Executive Officer
Mark is the CEO of MNB Fitness and Wellbeing located in London England. His physical fitness organization serves to improve the well-being of both adults and youth in their businesses and schools. As a child of West African Ghanaian immigrants, Mark is very proud to serve the youth of Africa.
Lori Jones
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Lori has worked for a number of non-profits and community organizations in the mental health field for over 10 years. She currently supports impoverished communities at a national and global scale with leadership skills and development.
Joy Ufomadu
University Administrator / Children's Book Author
Joy is an accomplished children's book author and an NYU school administrator. She holds a Graduate Degree in Counseling from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. As an American born daughter of West African Nigerian immigrants, she is very proud to serve the youth of Africa.
Marcus Coleman, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor of Communications
Marcus is an accomplished scholar & professor. He also is an Operations Analyst with the city of Washington, D.C. and serves as a second lieutenant officer in the National Guard.
Petah Mwariga
Telecom Industry Chief Executive Officer
Native to East Africa, Peter was born and raised in Nairobi Kenya. He is the Founder and CEO of Teleconnect Solutions Group based out of Vancouver BC Canada.
Courtney Thomas
College Director of Student Services
Courtney is an accomplished administrative professional at Hinds Community College in Utica, MS. Courtney also has prior experience in assisting school aged African refugees on their matriculation into the United States as a former Catholic Charities Program Director.
Stephane Fonkam, M.D.
Doctor of Medicine
Stephane was born and raised in Cameroon West Africa. He successfully completed his medical school studies and earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) while in Niger before relocating to the United States.
Volunteer Program
The intent of this program is to serve as an internship training ground for last year students to discover in a practical fashion if the career that they are desiring to further pursue is an appropriate and long term fit for their future.
Mentor Program
We are always seeking entrepreneurs, leaders & professionals to serve as mentors for our youth. Professional mentors are needed to introduce the students that we work with to authentic workplace settings.
