Jennifer Godoy-Lee

Program Director

Jennifer Godoy-Lee currently is employed at Azusa Pacific University as the Program Director for the TRiO Student Support Services. The TRiO is a program that is federally funded thru the United States Department of Education. As TRiO Program Director, Jennifer supports students from disadvantaged backgrounds to persist and successfully complete a postsecondary degree. Since 2016, Jennifer has contributed to the mission of TRiO to serve first-generation undergraduate students from low-income backgrounds alongside those with disabilities with personalized support services that foster academic success that nurtures their professional endeavors. Jennifer’s experience largely encompasses coaching and counseling, career advisement, international and local cultural enrichment experiences, financial literacy programming, graduate and professional program preparation, and authentic partnership building.

Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Science degree in College Counseling and Student Development thru Azusa Pacific University located in Azusa, California.

She has completed additional training in both career and mental counseling courses which has equipped her with the relevant tools needed to help students succeed holistically.

Jennifer understands the importance of career development & college internship programs and how they hold high value in assisting young people in their future careers. She interned with the nonprofit organization THINK Together. The role of this organization remains to work with California school districts and communities to offer extended learning opportunities to students from disadvantaged backgrounds. It was through this internship where she found her passion in making quality education accessible for all students. Jennifer has a passion to advocate on behalf of unrepresented communities. She recognizes the need to enhance support for students who are striving to overcome socioeconomic barriers to success as she experienced growing up. Jennifer was raised by a single mom that worked very long hours to ensure that all of her needs were met. She largely credits her mother and her newly married husband Justin for both serving as a role model in word and humble servitude on how to have the right attitude even when great barriers are faced. Alongside the benefit of having a great mother, Jennifer also strongly believes that the implementation of individualized career development support is essential in navigating today’s youth in the right direction. Regardless of background, Jennifer believes that every student deserves access to an education of high-quality. As an educational leader, she hopes to continue to work towards educational equity for all students and to contribute to the career development initiatives throughout Africa.
